Ms Corgatelli has been posting a series of photos on her Facebook page of herself with animals from her hunting trip in South Africa at Old Days Safari Park
Ricky Gervais has slammed a huntress who posted photos of her posing next to a dead giraffe.
The comedian, who has also become powerful voice for animal rights , is believed to have been reacting to the images of Sabrina Corgatelli when he labelled her 'scum'.
It comes less than a week after American dentist Walter Palmer was unmasked as the killer of Cecil the lion - Zimbabwe's famous lion who was illegally killed.
Ms Corgatelli, from Idaho, has been posting a series of photos on her Facebook page of herself with animals from her hunting trip in South Africa at Old Days Safari Park.
Posting a photo of her next to a giraffe she wrote : "Day #2 I got a amazing old Giraffe. Such a amazing animal!! I couldn't be any happier!! My emotion after getting him was a feeling I will never forget!!!""
Ms Corgatelli, an accountant for Idaho State University, commented under the picture, saying: "I have so much respect and love for this animal. It was the most ethical shot I have ever made!!! I have such a disbelief that I got a giraffe!!!"
In response to critics Ms Corgatelli quoted the Bible on hunting: "Genesis 9:3 says, 'Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything."
"Genesis 27:3 says, 'Now then, take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me,'" she wrote.
Gervais wrote on Twitter: "What's really sad nowadays is that these big game trophy hunters see fame as an added bonus to their perversion. Just like serial killers.
"There's a new extreme 'untress desperate for publicity. Being known as scum is better to the cold hearted than not being known at all. Sad.
"What's great about this new sicko is that she basically claims God wants her to go out and kill everything. It's as good a reason as any :)"
Corgatelli was defiant in the face of international criticism.
She warned of more posts to come, writing on Facebook: "To all the haters. Stay tuned, you’re gonna have so much more to be p****d off about.”
She spoke to TODAY earlier and said she had nothing to apologise for.
"When you hunt an animal, everyone thinks we're cold hearted but it's not that, there is a connection with the animal and just because we hunt them doesn't mean we don't have a respect for them," she said.
Asked whether she thinks she will face problems back in the US, she said: "Everything I've done here is legally [sic], so how can you fault someone because of their hobbies, you're always going to have employees that you don't agree with what they do in their spare time but how can an employer chastise you for something you do on your personal time?"
